4TU.Bouw ‘Lighthouse Projects’ is calling for imaginative research proposals on topics addressing one of our National Science Agenda themes.

4TU.Bouw ‘Lighthouse Projects’ is soliciting imaginative research project proposals that are related to one of our Natiuonal Science Agenda – Nationale Wetenschapsagenda – themes. A copy of these themes can be found here (in Dutch). An English summary of the themes can be downloaded here

The ‘imaginative’ nature of the research proposal, as well as the delivery of tangible results (e.g. prototypes, test environments, and so on), distinguishes Lighthouse Projects from other funding schemes. The relatively short project term of 4TU.Bouw Lighthouse Projects – tangible results in 2016 – appeals to ‘fast-track’ and ‘high-risk’ proposals. 4TU.Bouw is aiming for various levels of integration with industry and end-user parties.

A Lighthouse Project proposal is eligible for funding when at least two out of the three 4TU.Bouw partner-universities are involved in the project:

  • Delft University of Technology – Architecture and the Built Environment & Civil Engineering and Geosciences,
  • Eindhoven University of Technology – Built Environment
  • University of Twente – Engineering Technology

IMAGINATIVE; ‘Imaginative nature’ of the proposed research/results; ‘high-risk’, ‘innovative’, ‘projective’; we expect either a proof of concept or a proof of failure.

PARTNERS; Collaboration of at least two of the three 4TU.Bouw universities (TU Delft, TU Eindhoven & UTwente).

PR; Expected publications by ‘trade publishers’ (CoBouw, Ingenieurs Weekblad, etc.).

PROPOSAL FORMAT (as described); Only the first two pages of a proposal will be considered.

RESULTS; Expected (tangible) result in 2017.

THEME; Relation and relevance to the Lighthouse theme: one of our National Science Agenda themes.
